Playas Del Coco 3 - Costa Rica

Our last days in Playas del Coco!
The month went really fast and it's already time for us to go visit the rest of the country.

Digby finished is Teckdive course after 10 days of diving and studing everyday.
CONGRATULATION!
and Sophie passed also her advance diving course!

A french couple wanted to do the course but they didn't speak english or spanish.
So the dive center asked Sophie to be the traductor and to do also the course for a really good price.

So after 3 days and 6 dives she is certified also! CONGRATULATION!
For the course you need to have 3 specialities: she took buoyancy control, sharks and underwater photography!
It was lot of fun and you can have a look at the photos below!

We had a nice barbecue with the dive team for celebrate our certification.
Also it was Sophie's birthday!

For the occasion Digby woke up her with balloon and birthday card and small gift ( the big one was the open water cerfification)
The owners of the residence are really nice and they offered her a bracelet with a t shirt. Really nice from them.
At night we had a really nice meal just the 2 of us with lot of cheeses and wines.
It was an amazing birthday.

As you can imagine we are quite sad to already leave Playa del Coco and leave our new friends: Leo and Frederika from the residence, Martin and Brenda from the dive shop, etc...
Here it's such a small village we start to know everyone!

For our last day we will do a LAST dive, only the 2 of us.
It will be our last dive during our world trip and propably the last occasion to dive with sharks and rays.

Today we are also August 10th , it's mean we 've got only a month left of travelling! unbelievable, time flies!

Playas Del Coco 2 - Costa Rica

Hi Everybody,

So what's up in Costa Rica..

Everything is going well for us,
Digby finished his dive master CONGRATULATION!
He was diving everyday and saw lot of rays, eagles rays, reef sharks, bull sharks ( 5m , quite impressive!)
Now he is officialy a dive instructor so it's really cool!

For his birthday present he decided to do an other course: it's basically a certification for dive deeper than 40m and for a longer time: so he will use 2 to 4 air tanks instead of 1.
It's a really hard course and the  teacher is a director of PADI and came from US especially for this course.
There are 3 course directors (the highest level of proffesional certification with PADI) with Digby (who has the lowest proffesional level qualification) to follow the course but the 2 others have more than 12000 dives each of experiences!
so Digby is definitely the youngest and least experienced by a long way. (no pressure then to not hold up the class)
But obvisouly he loves this challenge!

Sophie also finally passed her Open Water exam,CONGRATULATION
she really enjoyed this course and saw really nice marine life as sharks and eagles rays too.
Also for her fist lesson in the swimming pool, Digby was the teacher! it's was fun.
Now we are both certified we can dive anywhere only the 2 of us.

The life in Costa Rica is still chill out, the weather is fantastic , sometimes cloudy but really hot.
Sophie went to Playa Hermosa one day, the beach was nice, a change from Coco.

The only thing I have to say is: It's quite hard to be a girl by herself in Costa Rica.
Here it's Latin America and the boys are... boys!
When they see any girl by herself they have to whistle at her or say " hey baby, come with me, my amor, etc...."it's quite annoying after a while.

Also as Digby is diving or busy with his course everyday,Sophie is by herself almost everyday.
And when she go to the beach , the boys are really annoying!
They have to stay next to her and look at her as perverse or talk with her as "i would love to come to France with you, have a girl friend like you , etc.." when she said she got a boyfriend they absolutely don't care!
Even one day she was lying on the beach, reading a book and she realized 3 boys was setting behind her and looking at her in a uncomfortable way.
Basically this behavior is really unpleasant and annoying!

But otherwise we love this place and like spending time with our friends from the dive shop.
Now we are enjoying our last weeks in Latin America !
