Santa Clara - Cuba

Santa Clara!!! The city of Che Gevara

We arive under the auspicious gaze of Che, as we pass the entrace of the town. His image is every were, one of the most decisive military striked during the Cuba revolution. We visit the site of the armered train attacked and taken by Che and his guerilla fighters. The weapons they took from this train and the morale boost helped a smallreber force of 300 under Che's direction take a city defended by over 1000 troops and tanks as well as heavy armour!
We see the 3 story building from the roof of which Che directed the battle with a view of the city, in the centre some buildings have not be restored still peppered with bullet holes from heavy calibre gun emplacements. We walk to the statue of Che the huge figuere of Ernesto 'Che' Guevara towers over us. The momunment is very impressive as is the size square. Below we entre the free museaum about Che.
It builds on what we learned in the museaum of the revolution and learn a great deal more about this extraordinary person. No matter what your political ideoligy, you can't help but be in awe of the man's achievements and his life. let alone the power of his image today. We explore the quaint town more during the afternoon. With it not being very touristic its a nicely genuine experience.
