Trinidad - Cuba

Trinidad is the most visited City in Cuba after Havana, it's famous for the beatiful beaches as Varadero and the old town centre.
We spent 2 days here and straigt away we can see the locals here live of off the tourism.
Almost everyhouse sells souvenirs and they are really pushy with us.
They absolutely want to sell us something, it reminds us a little bit of Africa.

The small old town centre is really nice and cute, and a different other style from Havana and Vinales.
Here each house is colorfull with decorative metal bars on windows.
Our Casa is really nice we are in a private house with a small garden really nice, where we had a fantastic diner: Lobster!!!! ( and for the price of $8 including entrance, main , desert, and a little bit of rhum for the digestion!).

The next day Sophie really wanted to go to the beach, so she asked at the guy to the casa how we can get there, he explain to take a cab and it will be 4CUC ( cuc= $).
So let's go to the most beautiful beach on the south coast of Cuba!
We ask a bike taxi in the street and first he told us " the beach, NO way too far!" so we decided to take a old dodge taxi but an other bike  ask us if we needed a taxi, we said Yes for the beach, then he asked us " PLaya La Boca?" we said yes if it's the playa it must be that, and the price was 4CUC.

So for 20min we were seating behind the poor man who was sweating like a pig for arriving finally at the beach.
....
When we arrived it was not exactly how we imagined it! Sand yes, beach umbrellas yes, sea yes BUT
the sand look like dirty  industrial sand from road works, there is a big JCB truck doing some digging, the sea is brown ( not really turquoise as the caraibes) and there are only locals who are swiming in the sea, almost nobody on the beach.
Also the local bar in front of the beach is playing terrible 90's music very loud.

We walked a litte bit to maybe find a better bit, but it was worse, some old stands who were selling cheap pizzas and beer but nothing else.Of course we were the only tourists.

We decided to go back to the beach and to enjoy the sun with some cheap mojitos!
The man didn' have any mojitos so he gave us some beers, but he was so happy to see some tourist so he went buy a bottle of rhum and did some mojitos for us afterwards ( but with fanta orange because he did have any limonade!).
We had a great time enjoying our fanta mojitos on the beach, we spoke with lot of locals who explain us how much the people earn by month in Cuba, how was the life here, etc..
One of them was really proud to tell us that he had a $3 note in his house.
We were really sorry to tell him it was probably a scam as a $3 note doesn't exist!

As everyday in Cuba around 3h/4h there is a huge storm so we came back to our house, this time with a dodge taxi! and enjoyed more mojito in the house.
The owner of the casa asked us how was the beach , we told him our experience and he laught at us !

"The Boca is not a beach! this a shity place where the locals go because is cheap, but is not recomend for tourist because there is the river who goes into the sea with all the human and animals's shits."
OK hopefully we won't be sick!
The beach was The Con, apparentely 7km of white sand, really quite and chill out place.
No coment!

So if you plan to go to Trinidad in Cuba ask for PLaya el  CON and no La Boca!
