Cancun & Isla Mujeres - Mexico

After a month in altitude with cold weather, it's time again to enjoy summer and beaches!
But we forgot how HOT it can be!!!!!! Here the weather is so humid we are sweating like a pig.
We arrived in Mexico city and took straigh away a flight for Cancun. We arrived at 2am at our hostel, and nobody was sleeping.... when we arrived everybody was playing an alcohol game and had some " body shots"( basically you have a shot in your friend's belly button! humm yummy!)

You understand, Cancun is party central, with no shame.
The beach is full of deluxe hotel and resort, unlucky because it's so hot it's pissed it down with rain so we can not enjoy the beach.
We enjoyed some drinks at the hostel and ate street Taco's  but after months of backpacking we didn't fit with the luxury hotels and casinos.

After 2 days we decided to go to Isla mujeres. We took a speed catameran across for Cancun, to an Island with more small town charm.
The beaches are pristine, the water amazingly blue and it is baking hot and the humidity in the air makes the air thick enough to cut. So Sophie is in her ellement Sun bathing, Digby is in the shade under a palm tree.
Its beautiful here and fairly cheap, we eat Taco's every day and drink lots of Corona in the sun on the beach. We sample some tequila's in a tequila bar. Look at 100's of decorated skulls and somebrero's, every one speaks English here and are a bit suprised when we speak Spanish.
Everything is quite american touristy.
We leave after two nights down to the Mayan Riviera and Playa del Carmen.

It was really nice to spend some days in a quiet cute island as Isla Mujeres after the crazy vibe of Cancun.

xx
